Island 479 - Breiwick Stack, Unst, Shetland

Breiwick Stack is big enough to be an island and has a name but technically it doesn't have enough grass to graze a sheep.  It is located off the south east coast of Unst half a mile north east of the village of Muness, which incidentally is home to Britain's most northerly castle.   Breiwick Stack is linked at low tide to Unst.  It was a relatively easy walk across about 75m of seaweed and rocks to get to it and then an easy climb up onto the island.  The rock strata on Breiwick Stack are nearly vertical in places and grass and thrift are growing in the dips in the rocks on the sheltered western side of the island.
