Island 421 - Inishcottle, County Mayo

Inishcottle is a small island, which is linked to the neighbouring island of Inishnakillew by a short causeway.   The causeway is suitable for cars but there is nowhere to turn a car round at the Inishcottle end, as on arrival at the island the road becomes someone's private drive.

Inishcottle, which is located on the east side of Clew Bay and 6.5 miles north west of the town of Westport, is 800 metres from east to west by 250 metres from north to south.  There are two houses on the island and a short quay on the north coast.  The highest point on the island is 26 metres above sea level.
