Island 350 - Ringarogy Island, County Cork

Ringarogy Island  or (Rinn Ghearroige in Irish) is linked to the mainland of County Cork about 2 miles north of the village of Baltimore by the Lag Bridge and a causeway.  It is about 2 miles from north to south by 1.5 miles from east to west and the highest point is 44 metres above sea level.   Technically the island is tidal.  However the mud separating it from the mainland at low tide looked very soft to me, so I wouldn't want to try walking across it.

There are quite a number of houses on the island.  The only historical sites on the island, which are marked on the Ordnance Survey map are a cillin (a burial ground for unbaptised children) in the middle of the island and a castle on the north coast.

I didn't fully explore the island, as the lanes are a bit narrow and there didn't seem to be anything in particular of interest to go and look at.
