Island 433 - Holm/Eilean Thuilm 1, Lewis

Holm or Eilean Thuilm is in two pieces, which are joined to each other and to the mainland of the Isle of Lewis at low tide.  They are located two miles south east of the town of Stornoway and opposite the cliff where the Iolaire Monument is located.   Holm 1 is 300 metres long by 200 metres wide and rises to a height of 25 metres in the south east of the island.  The island is grass covered and was being grazed by sheep when I visited in early June 2018.  Holm 1 is linked to the mainland of the Isle of Lewis by a 200 metre long pebble tombolo.  It was an easy half a mile walk from the parking area for the Iolaire Monument down the road, through a field being grazed by sheep and across the tombolo.
