To get to East Burra from Shetland Mainland you have to cross a bridge on to Trondra and then another one on to West Burra and a 3rd one on to East Burra. The bridges were opened in 1971. East Burra, which is 4 km long by 1.3 km wide has housing, some farms and a church on it but no large settlement.
